Baron Corbin might not be finished with MLW despite his recent return to WWE.
On the July 10th edition of SmackDown, Baron Corbin made his much-anticipated return to WWE. During Trick Williams‘ match against Carmelo Hayes, Corbin came to the ring and pushed Hayes off the top rope before laying out both men with his End of Days finisher and standing over them with the US Championship belt.
The appearance was Corbin’s first since 2024, when WWE decided not to renew his contract after 12 years with the promotion. During his time away from WWE, Corbin took on the name Bishop Dyer and competed in the independent scene. Most recently, he was teaming with Donovan Dijak in MLW, where the pair were the World Tag Team Champions.
Dijak recently appeared on Off The Ropes, where he explained that, although he has returned to WWE as Baron Corbin, as far as he’s concerned, his partner Bishop Dyer isn’t necessarily finished with MLW.
“It’s interesting that you bring that up because I haven’t found out that he’s not going to be with MLW any longer. I mean, that is still completely up in the air. I don’t control the contracts of companies and who can appear when and why and what.
“The last we left it on episodic MLW FUSION television is that there’s a contract dispute. Obviously, he popped up as Baron Corbin in WWE, but that’s not to say that he can’t reappear on MLW television.”
Donovan Dijak Believes Baron Corbin Could Return To MLW
Dijak joked that “anything’s possible” with WWE, including the chance that Corbin could be cloned.
“Anything’s possible, especially in that universe. They’re cloning people, they’re cursing people, there’s pyro and stuff going off. There’s all sorts of crazy stuff happening, it’s the wild west out there.
“You never know who’s gonna pop up. Sometimes, Dolph Ziggler pops up on WWE television. You never know what’s gonna happen.”
It looks unlikely that Baron Corbin will be back in MLW anytime soon, as he currently has his sights on the WWE US Championship.
