Happy Halloween, everyone!
Diego Hill vs. LaBron Kozone – Opera Cup Quarterfinals match
Every single physical advancement Kozone inflicted on Hill was rebuffed with athleticism. The last one surprised Diego into staying on the mat a little longer than prior, but he got back up with an arm drag. It looked like Kozone was lining up for something, Hill dodged, yet he endured a drop kick to the face.
Diego failed with the head scissors the first time, but he succeeded the second attempt. Hill has managed to stay in the game, however, he mostly found himself on the receiving end of some heavy brutality. LaBron seemed angrier as he performed an overhead suplex without flinching. His opponent barely got a significant hit as of yet.
A twisted DDT from Hill bought him some time to recuperate with a dive bomb to the outside. It took a lot of strength to hoist LaBron on his shoulders for a rolling Senton, luckily, Diego was triumphant. It pained him as he stretched before heading up the ropes for an incomplete body splash. Kozone caught Diego and smacked him with Burning Hammer.
Kozone suffered multiple roundhouse kicks before he was finally able to launch that thunderous lariat that ended Diego in one go. If that anger of earlier went nowhere, I would have been weirded out by the outcome. Diego congratulated him nonetheless. Kozone and Aries will be facing each other soon.
Winner: LaBron Kozone
Yota Tsuji issued a challenge as he’s making his way to MLW, and Trevor Lee answered that call for their upcoming Saturday Night Superfight event on Nov 7. Backstage, Matt Riddle bombed in on Austin Aries’ interview time to suggest a title match for the National Openweight Championship. Of course, Aries claimed to not be afraid, but he chose to walk away, too. It wasn’t until Riddle called him a “little b*tch,” that he came back to enforce the challenge for Superfight.
Wolfgang vs. Beastman
Although he entered that ring willingly, Wolfgang looked particularly disturbed by Beastman’s antics. The prehistoric man was so unbothered by those chops that he went and bit Wolfgang’s arm like a rabid animal with rabies. Absolutely ridiculous. This match felt strange to witness, even more so when Beastman flattened Wolfgang from behind.
Beastman was so invested in his character that he messed up his own cover attempts with some tomfoolery. It allowed Wolfgang to revive himself with numerous chops to the chest of his challenger. He wasn’t able to subdue Beastman with those body bumps, nor that choke submission.
Beastman has planned to climb to the top, Wolfgang attempted to intercept and got squashed by his challenger’s massive frame. Beastman could have gotten the win if he had covered Wolf at that moment, instead he brought out his caveman antics again. While the official was dealing with Kimchi, who was catapulted into the ring, Mark Coffey drove a metal device into Beastman’s hand, which opened the door for Wolfgang to spear him into hell.
Winner: Wolfgang
Since Zamaya got a title shot with Shotzi ahead of newest CONTRA recruit Masha, Josef Samael proclaimed a Superfight match between the two to prove who’s the “baddest b*tch”. The emphasis on the b-word felt like I was being spat on with acid. Also, Mistico will be attending the Nov 7 event.
I don’t want to talk about what the Glasgow Boys were doing because it appalled me, so I’ll move on to Killer Kross accepting a World Championship match versus Donovan Dijak that could bulldoze Josh Bishop.
Ikuro Kwon vs. Matt Riddle – Opera Cup Quarterfinals match
This is a bout I never thought I’d see, but I always wanted to witness… if memory serves me right. They were already calling each other’s moves, however, Riddle got the best out of Kwon for a good few seconds. Ikuro countered with an abrupt drop kick as Matt descended from the top. Like a damn cat on a scratching poll, Kwon maimed Riddle’s back with his nails.
A Sling Blade neck breaker combination from Kwon was suspiciously admired by Austin Aries, who’s sitting at commentary. With time, Riddle countered as both men are stunned flatly on the mat. When they were able to return to a vertical base, Matt’s quick strikes actually caught me off guard and left in awe.
An exploder suplex, a Senton, plus an ear-ringing kick to Kwon within seven seconds was a highlight. Ikuro was impressive, too, with that rapid fire. Alas, he lost to that wicked backhand.
Winner: Matt Riddle
