Welcome back, everyone!
Neon vs. Soberano Jr.
Early on, a test of ground wrestling was being showcased as we enter the first match of the evening. It seemed like Neon got the best of Soberano. He went flying after junior. When enough time had passed, I wasn’t surprised by how Soberano enjoyed his cocky behaviour, kissing girls in the crowd like it was nothing.
Neon retaliated in a massive way by slingshotting Soberano using his feet the way a catapult normally would. Junior’s limbs got caught in the ropes because of that. A drop kick sent Soberano outside. Neon was in the lead with his attacks, however, Soberano revived himself with a sudden kick to his opponent’s chest in mid-air.
Luckily, Neon showed some life with a Code Red out of nowhere that nearly took Soberano out. A Hurricane Rana from Neon wasn’t sufficient. Soberano was demonstrating his strength with a power slam. Neon may have missed with the backflip from the top, but he succeeded with the standing C4. It didn’t end with a three count, though…
Soberano won with a cheap tactic such as fooling the referee to divert his attention elsewhere, long enough for Soberano to kick Neon in the crutch and spike him on his head.
Winner: Soberano Jr.
BREAKING NEWS Blue Panther, the National Openweight Champion, has accepted Austin Aries’ challenge for a title fight. After getting jumped by CONTRA Unit at Battle Riot this year, Satoshi Kojima will return in two weeks.
Shigeo Okumura vs. Victor Iniestra
Okumura exploded out of the gates with a clothesline and a power slam that almost ended the match right there if Victor didn’t resist the pain he’s already in. This is first time we’ve seen Shigeo in battle as a new member of CONTRA Unit. Okumura whipped Iniestra in the corner.
Strangely but also good… ish, of Victor to do his best fighting back. Alas, Shigeo was far too strong to be put down that easily and underwhelming. Okumura sat on his challenger’s lower back and stretched him out to force a tap. In all honesty, Victor wasn’t going to leave victoriously.
Winner: Shigeo Okumura
Scarlett Bordeaux vs. Blair Onyx
As we start the fight, Onyx was quite impressive with that double jointed counter right before she shoved Scarlett’s face away. She was dressed similar to Spider-Man, blue and red. Bordeaux caught Blair off guard with a kick to her opponent’s inner thigh, plus a hip attack. Funnily so, Onyx bit Scarlett’s ass.
Blair was something else entirely. Very Wyatt Sicks. Sadly, she wasn’t prepared for that unique DDT offence from Bordeaux. Things ended in favour of the Scarlett Letter.
Winner: Scarlett Bordeaux
Shotzi’s Monster Hunt has proven to be successful when Blackheart did not only find Mads Krugger, but she revived him with electrical charges. Well… things just got interesting within CONTRA.
Alex Hammerstone has been incredibly bitter since returning. He decided to put more of that frustration on Ultimo Guerrero in tonight’s match by forcibly removing his mask and throwing it away. Sure, we’ve seen Ultimo’s face before, but that remains the ultimate show of disrespect. Hammerstone didn’t particularly like that Guerrero had previously worn a Championship belt that he believes wasn’t meant for anyone else to wear.
Alex powerbombed Guerrero on the apron, which left a huge welt on Ultimo’s back. He truly seemed to be in agony, yet Guerrero refused to stay down. The Luchador retaliated with a gourd buster off the ropes that shocked Hammerstone. Oof. The welt on Ultimo’s body was very red that I think he’s suffering from internal bleeding. Nevertheless, Alex lowered his bar to hell as he pushed Guerrero into the official, delivered a blow to the man’s crutch, then finished the job with Nightmare Pendulum. Commentary was absolutely disgusted.
Following that, Matt Riddle picked a fight with Hammerstone after his interference cost him his chances at winning gold last week. Riddle warned Killer Kross that he will deal that “mess of a man” Hammerstone prior to reapplying focus to obtaining the MLW World Heavyweight Championship.
Austin Aries vs. Blue Panther (c) – MLW Openweight Championship match
Aries’ entitlement was getting on my nerves. But who the hell cares? He kept doing it during a great portion of the fight when he expected the audience to applaud him. Annoyingly so, he managed to get Blue in a side headlock takedown after bouncing off the corner. Panther made a comeback with a couple of clotheslines.
After Austin was shoved into obscurity, Aries took revenge by dragging Diego Hill’s body in front of him like a shield just as Blue came crashing over with a somersault. Hill was down just as Austin charged at Panther with a suicide dive. Blue got hung up in the ropes when tossed back inside. What came as an absolute shock was that Aries became the new National Openweight Champion when he initiated the Last Chancer submission.
After attacking Blue when the bell had already rung and being shoved off by Hill, I don’t know what Austin said to Diego, but it pissed him off enough to attempt an apprehension.
Winner: Austin Aries
Since her debut, we’ve all been waiting to see more of Zamaya. She completely and utterly destroyed Lili Ruiz when she reigned supreme as if there was any doubt. And speaking of inevitable beat ups, Shotzi stomped her way to enlist Mads Krugger to decimate the Skyscrapers for taking over her locker room. Well, that’s a great way of utilizing a monster.
Templario has been somewhat unforgiving in his brutal approach on taking down Mistico, knowing he is the first to pin him. Templario targeted Mistico’s left leg for a good amount of time, and it shows in Mistico’s movements. Templario is the second bitter person to be present tonight as he tried to remove his challenger’s mask. What’s everyone’s deal with masks today?? All that abuse didn’t squash Mistico from annihilating a person’s arm with La Mistica.
You know, I could see this being something amazingly hellish. Shotzi and Mads. A pairing I should have seen coming in high focus definition giving how it’s already going swimmingly. This match seemed to be a pretext for verbal knife throwing between Blackheart and Bishop Dyer. Krugger just so happens to be in the middle. Mads may have won after he spiked Bishop on his own title belt, after some… traumatic visualization, but he was strapped. It was only when Shotzi was in danger that he broke free and fought alongside… the Good Brothers?
