It is the season finale of MLP’s first season on the airwaves. Yes, apparently, wrestling shows have season finale’s too. It is a shame this card is filled with what most would consider “squash matches”.
This weekend is the big Northern Rising PPV which features the following matches:
- Adam Copeland vs. Steve Maclin
- Priscilla Kelly (c) vs. Nikki Storm
- Josh Alexander (lineal) vs. Stu Grayson (interim)
- Andrade El Ídolo (c) vs. Rohan Raja (with Aurora Teves)
- 1st Faction (Brent Banks and Sheldon Jean) (c) (with Bryce Hansen) vs. Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake and Zack Gibson) vs. Sinner & Saint (Judas Icarus and Travis Williams)
- Kingsley and Alexia Nicole vs. Alice Crowley and Jody Threat
- Dan Maff vs. Psycho Mike vs. Crazzy Steve
- Máscara Dorada and Subculture (Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster) vs. TJP, Johnny TV, and Gabriel Fuerza
You can catch all the action here…but we are getting a bit ahead of ourselves…
Nikki Storm versus Dani Luna
Storm shoves Luna off the top rope. She falls to the floor banging the back of her on the arena floor. Storm suplexes Luna on the floor and then smashes her head off the ring steps. After a big drop kick back in the ring from Luna, both women are down, exhausted.
Let’s go Dani! Let’s go Storm!
Storm wraps Dani in the ring apron on the floor and just beats on her while she is trapped. Luna reverses a suplex on the floor. Storm kicks out of the Luna Landing. Storm wins with a flying body press off the top rope and a spinning neckbreaker.
Winner: Nikki Storm
Adam Copeland in a taped promo says that Maclin made this issue very, very personal. That has changed everything.
“Are you ready for that, Steve Maclin! You have never faced anyone like me, not in the ring or the battlefield!” he says.
Copeland never quits and he never surrenders. Maclin will find that out at Northern Rising.
Rudra versus Vaughn Vertigo
Why in the world would you name yourself “Vertigo”? That isn’t a positive reference in any way. So, Vaughn cannot climb the ropes, we assume?
Savage Rudra makes short work of Vertigo even though Vertigo displays some fantastic athleticism.
A big boot to the head, ripcord high knee and a spear from the second rope spells the end of Vertigo.
Winner: Rudra
Subculture (‘Flash’ Morgan Webster and Mark Andrews) versus The Natural Classics (Tome Filip and Stevie Filip)
Subculture both dive out of the ring onto the Filip brothers. Running high knee in a corner by Webster and a shooting star press by Andrews.
Winners: Subculture (‘Flash’ Morgan Webster and Mark Andrews)
A taped promo from Josh Alexander and Stu Grayson about their championship match. Grayson says he was doing the work while Josh was at home nursing his injury. Alexander wants to prove why he is the one and only MLP Canadian Champion.
1st Faction (Brent Banks and Sheldon Jean), Dan Maff, Jonathan Gresham and Ravenous Rohan Raja versus Billy Gunn, Neon, Psycho Mike, and Sinner and Saint (Judas Icarus and Travis Williams)
Raja attacks Gunn from behind and avoids the Famouser. He pins Gunn with a modified Flatliner.
Andrade comes out challenging Raja. Raja runs up the rampway with a steel chair. Andrade disarms him pretty quick and they battle to the ring. They trade punches and then Andrade clotheslines him over the top rope. Security comes out to separate the two. Andrade leaps onto everyone wiping them all out on the floor.
Andrade smashes a steel chair over Raja’s back. Andrade then stands on the chair pointing down at Raja.
Winners: 1st Faction (Brent Banks and Sheldon Jean), Dan Maff, Jonathan Gresham and Ravenous Rohan Raja
