MJF’s next match following AEW Worlds End has been confirmed, with the former AEW World Champion set to make a return to the independent scene in January.
Limitless Wrestling announced on Thursday that MJF will appear at its Limitless Rumble event on Friday, January 16. The show will take place at The Colisée in Lewiston, Maine, the historic venue best known as the site of Muhammad Ali’s 1965 knockout victory over Sonny Liston.
The announcement comes just days before MJF challenges for the AEW World Championship at Worlds End. While it has not yet been confirmed whether MJF will compete in a match at the Limitless event, he is scheduled to take part in a ticketed VIP meet-and-greet ahead of the show. The card will be headlined by Limitless Wrestling’s version of a Royal Rumble-style match.
MJF has strong ties to the promotion, having won Limitless Wrestling’s inaugural World Championship in March 2019. He held the title until September of that year, shortly before making the move to AEW.
The Limitless Rumble event will also feature other notable names. Eddie Kingston has been announced for his first appearance with the promotion since 2018, marking his return to Limitless Wrestling. Additionally, the card will include a WWE ID Women’s Championship match, with Laynie Luck defending the title against B3CCA.
When Did MJF Return To AEW TV?
MJF returned to AEW TV at Holiday Bash on December 17 by interrupting the contract signing for the AEW World Title between champion Samoa Joe and challengers “Hangman” Adam Page and Swerve Strickland.
He cut a promo on all the participants of the title match before inserting himself into the match at Worlds End, turning the Three-Way match into a Four-Way.
