MJF believes AEW is currently the strongest alternative to WWE and says some wrestling fans have become increasingly frustrated with WWE’s current direction.
Speaking with TV Insider, the former AEW World Champion discussed growing interest in AEW and whether rising WWE ticket prices and reported talent frustrations have contributed to that shift. MJF stressed that he has “no issue” with WWE or TKO, but admitted he believes many fans and wrestlers are currently unhappy.
“Yeah, a lot of people who work there aren’t particularly happy. People are taking pay cuts,” MJF said. “The show right now, to each their own, but to a lot of people right now, pretty disenchanted with the product.”
Despite that criticism, MJF praised WWE’s overall business success and roster depth before arguing that fans are actively searching for a genuine alternative product.
“I think they have an insane amount of talent there. They have a proven track record of doing incredible business, but I think people are so ready for an alternative,” he said. “I can’t think of a better alternative than All Elite Wrestling.”
MJF Believes AEW Has Regained The Momentum That It Lost In Recent Years
MJF also addressed AEW’s own difficult periods over the past few years, while claiming the company has regained momentum throughout 2026. According to MJF, recent editions of AEW Dynamite, AEW Collision and AEW pay-per-views have consistently delivered strong performances. The outspoken star also praised Darby Allin for his recent work, despite their ongoing on-screen rivalry.
“I’ll give Darby Allin his credit, even though I hate his stupid face,” MJF joked. “He is putting on easily the best matches.”
While MJF admitted he personally focuses more on drawing money and selling pay-per-views than match quality itself, he still argued AEW’s overall wrestling product is currently unmatched.
“I’m not going to sit here and pretend that we don’t have superior wrestling,” he said. “Whether that’s weekly shows or pay-per-views, which nobody can touch. Nobody has touched or will ever touch on these.”
