MJF was reportedly never planned for the AEW All In main event despite recent rumours suggesting there had been an internal push to add him to the World Championship match.
AEW All In: London takes place at Wembley Stadium on August 30, with Kenny Omega set to defend the AEW World Championship against Will Ospreay. According to Fightful Select, Omega versus Ospreay has always been the planned main event for the show.
Recent rumours suggested MJF could potentially have been added to the match before losing the World Championship. However, Fightful reports that those claims are false and MJF was instead always scheduled to compete in the Casino Gauntlet match.
Andrade El Idolo was also planned for the Casino Gauntlet before recently announcing that he would be taking a brief hiatus from the ring.
“We’re told that the match was set to heavily focus on them, helping add marquee value,” Fightful Select reported.
The report comes after significant changes for both men in the weeks leading into AEW’s return to Wembley. MJF recently lost the AEW World Championship, while Andrade is expected to be sidelined for a period lasting days or weeks.
Update Also Provided On The AEW All In Women’s Title Match
Fightful also provided an update on the AEW Women’s Championship match between Mercedes Moné and Willow Nightingale, reporting that the programme has been planned for several months.
“Willow and Mercedes was the plan dating back at least since around Toni Storm was removed from the equation, though the path to get there was going to likely be different due to Willow’s injury,” the report stated.
Despite Nightingale’s injury affecting how AEW reached the match, the intention remained for her to challenge Moné at Wembley.
Former AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla, meanwhile, has not currently been announced for All In.
With Omega versus Ospreay remaining the planned World Championship main event, MJF’s role at All In is instead expected to centre around the Casino Gauntlet, with the match reportedly designed to prominently feature both him and Andrade.
