Mike Santana‘s time with TNA appears to have come to an end, with the former world champion reportedly set to become a free agent in the coming days.
According to PWInsider, Mike Santana finished up with the promotion at Slammiversary, where he unsuccessfully challenged Nic Nemeth for the TNA World Championship in the main event. He is also not scheduled to appear at TNA’s television tapings in Albany, New York, taking place on Wednesday and Thursday.
The report states that Santana’s current TNA contract is due to expire in the “upcoming days”, although no exact date was provided. It has previously been expected that his deal would run through mid-July, leaving him on course to enter free agency soon.
Santana has been heavily linked with a move to WWE in recent months, although no agreement has been confirmed. With his reported departure from TNA now complete, Santana appears set to enter free agency and begin the next chapter of his wrestling career.
Mike Santana’s Successful Second Run With TNA
During his latest run with TNA, Mike Santana established himself as one of the company’s leading singles stars after spending much of his career being recognised as a tag team wrestler. He captured the TNA World Championship twice and became one of the promotion’s most prominent performers.
Away from the ring, Santana has also spoken openly about turning his life around after overcoming drug and alcohol addiction. His personal transformation has mirrored his rise as a singles competitor, helping him become one of TNA’s featured stars over the past several years.
