TNA World Champion Mike Santana says his full attention is on defending his title at TNA Slammiversary despite ongoing speculation about his future and rumours of a potential WWE signing.
Mike Santana has recently been linked with a potential move to WWE amid reports that he could become a free agent as early as next month. However, speaking with Justin Barrasso of Undisputed, the champion insisted he is not looking beyond Sunday’s pay-per-view.
“I’ve heard the rumours,” Santana said. “I’m defending the world title this Sunday in Boston at Slammiversary. That is my focus. Literally all I’ve been thinking about and preparing for is this match against Nic Nemeth.”
Santana said his title defence has taken on even greater importance given the recent changes within TNA.
“Nic Nemeth and me are going to go after it,” he said. “Especially with all the transition and changes in TNA, this is the time for us to show what’s most important. It’s all about what happens in the ring.”
The champion added that he wants fans to remember the quality of the event over anything that happens behind the scenes.
“I want people leaving talking about the show and how great it was. Slammiversary, that’s all I’m thinking about.”
