Mick Foley’s future in professional wrestling has become a major talking point following his decision to cut ties with WWE.
The WWE Hall of Famer recently confirmed that he will not be renewing his Legends contract when it expires in June 2026, citing the company’s ongoing relationship with Donald Trump as the reason for his decision. Foley stated that he no longer wished to represent a company connected to Trump, making it clear that his departure was a matter of principle.
With his WWE exit now confirmed, attention has turned to what could come next for the hardcore icon. While no formal plans have been announced, speculation has grown around the possibility of Foley appearing in All Elite Wrestling.
During a recent Q&A session after AEW Worlds End, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp addressed the situation, noting that AEW President Tony Khan has long been a fan of Foley and holds him in high regard. Sapp suggested that, while nothing is currently in motion, the door remains open should both sides have an interest.
“I know that Tony Khan really likes Mick Foley,” Sapp said. “I think there’s always a possibility. I think Mick would probably be on screen, though, in some capacity.”
For now, there is no confirmation of any upcoming appearances, but Foley’s decision to step away from WWE has inevitably sparked speculation about where he may surface next. Whether that leads to an AEW appearance or not, his influence on the industry remains undeniable.
How Long Was Mick Foley With WWE?
Mick Foley’s association with WWE spanned more than two decades, beginning with his arrival in 1996 and continuing in various roles through 2026, when his Legends contract is set to expire. During that time, Foley became one of the most influential figures in company history, competing under multiple personas including Mankind, Cactus Jack and Dude Love.
After retiring from full-time competition in 2000, Foley remained a regular presence in WWE through on-screen roles, special appearances, and backstage work until he left the company in 2001. He returned to WWE in 2003, and came out of retirement in 2004 and would wrestle sporadically until his second WWE departure in 2008.
Foley joined TNA after leaving WWE in 2008, and would continue to wrestle for them until 2011, when he returned to WWE for a third time and appeared in the 2012 Royal Rumble match.
He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013 and continued to make periodic appearances, promotional appearances, and ambassadorial commitments until announcing his decision not to renew his Legends contract.
