Mick Foley has revealed the advice he recently gave Darby Allin about his wrestling style.
No star has been compared to Mick Foley more than Darby Allin. Allin’s fearless style and ability to absorb more punishment than most have led many to think of the former AEW World Champion as the modern-day Mankind.
Given their similarities, it’s no surprise that Foley has spoken to Allin about his wrestling style. During a signing for Highspots.com, the Hardcore Legend explained that he suggested to Allin to “calm down” in the ring. While Allin appreciated the advice, he said he wasn’t going to change.
“Well, I did. I did, and he thanked me for my feedback and told me he was going to continue doing it.
“I didn’t say stop. I said, ‘You might wanna calm down.’ He’s like, ‘Well, I appreciate you talking to me, Mick. I really do.’”
At the end of the men’s Blood & Guts match on Dynamite, Wardlow threw Allin off the top of the cage and through a stack of tables, something Foley says left him “walking a little gingerly.”
“So somebody asked, ‘I heard you were gonna talk to Darby?’ I did, and he’s gonna keep doing what he does. I will tell you, man, he was walking a little gingerly last night.”
Darby Allin Wants To Inspire The Next Generation To Stay True To Themselves
Darby Allin’s reaction to Mick Foley’s advice echoes his sentiments in a recent interview where he said the most important thing to him in wrestling was to leave as the same person he came in.
Allin said that he made it to the top of AEW while staying true to himself, and that his biggest goal was to inspire future generations of wrestlers to be confident in doing the same thing.
