Mick Foley believes he may still have one final match left in him, though the WWE Hall of Famer says it would take the perfect circumstances for it to happen.
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Mick Foley discussed his recent arrival in AEW and the various ways he hopes to contribute to the company. While he made his debut as a broadcaster at Double or Nothing and could also see himself working as a manager, Foley admitted the idea of wrestling again has crossed his mind.
“It’s definitely crossed my mind,” Foley said. “The cinematic matches have opened up the door for guys whose cardio may be suspect.”
Foley credited a dramatic lifestyle transformation for making the possibility seem more realistic. The 60-year-old revealed that losing 100 pounds has significantly improved his day-to-day life and physical condition.
“But I’ll tell you what, this loss of 100 pounds has made my life so much easier,” he said. “I used to have to stop a couple of times just walking up a moderate hill. Now I don’t even realise I’m walking up hills.”
Despite feeling physically better, Foley acknowledged that any potential return would need to be carefully planned, given his extensive injury history.
“I think I have one last good match in me,” Foley said. “All the stars would have to align. It would have to make sense.”
Mick Foley Says He Doesn’t Want To Take Too Many Risks If He Does Wrestle Again
The hardcore wrestling icon has also undergone hip and knee replacements in recent years, procedures that have greatly improved his quality of life. As a result, he has no interest in taking unnecessary risks that could jeopardise his health. Mick Foley explained that any future match would need to avoid trauma to the head and be structured in a way that allowed him to entertain fans while limiting the physical toll on his body.
“If I can come up with enough of those types of moves that allow me to risk a little bit less while still giving fans a good match, and if I feel like I’m up to it, then maybe a couple of years down the road we will look into that,” Foley said. “Stranger things have happened.”
For now, Foley’s focus remains on his new AEW role, but he is not completely ruling out one final trip to the ring.
