Mercedes Mone has announced she is stepping away from AEW programming, vowing to return with renewed purpose after losing the TBS Championship.
A vignette aired on Saturday’s edition of AEW Collision showing Mercedes Mone reflecting on her title defeat to Willow Nightingale. Speaking to her reflection in a mirror, Mone noted she had held the championship for more than 500 days and been ranked as one of the top wrestlers in the world, but said she now felt disrespected by the company.
Mone stated she will take time away to “send a message” and prove why she raises the standard in whichever promotion she competes. She promised that when she returns to AEW, she intends to target more than championship belts, hinting she will be coming after Nightingale and others who stand in her way.
How Long Has Mercedes Mone Been With AEW?
Mercedes Mone has been a part of the AEW roster since January 2024, after she signed a contract with Tony Khan‘s company. Mone made her official AEW debut on March 13, 2024, on the “Big Business” episode of Dynamite, where she saved Willow Nightingale from an attack by Julia Hart and Skye Blue.
Mone’s in-ring AEW debut came on May 26, 2024, at Double or Nothing, where she defeated Nightingale to win the TBS Title.
