Mercedes Mone is apparently charging a substantial fee for each one of her independent pro wrestling appearances.
Mercedes Mone has been making a good number of independent appearances since she started wrestling for AEW, as she has managed to capture a total of 12 titles across ten promotions (11 if you count Ring of Honor as a separate promotion), and in a recent appearance on Z100 New York, AEW President Tony Khan discussed Mone’s activity on the independent scene, stating that she doesn’t do it for greed or money as the places she works for don’t pay highly.
However, Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that one independent promoter he spoke to, who inquired about procuring Mone’s services for their show, was quoted a figure of $25,000 per appearance. Meltzer wrote:
“I don’t know what she’s been paid in different places but one independent promoter who inquired about getting her noted it was a $25,000 per appearance figure.”
While this figure does seem quite high for an independent promotion, Meltzer did state that this may not be the same deal that Mone offers to all promotions and that companies Mone may actually want to work for could be offered a better deal. He penned:
“There may be and probably are different deals cut elsewhere and it’s also possible it’s people who she isn’t interested in working for who get that quote.”
Meltzer added that even major promotions that Mone has worked for recently, such as CMLL, don’t generally pay that much for one wrestler, and that the highest-paid wrestlers who work for CMLL are earning around $5,000.
What Match Is Mercedes Mone Having At AEW Full Gear?
Mercedes Mone is currently scheduled for an AEW Women’s World Title match at Full Gear, which is set to take place on November 22 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Mone will be challenging current champion Kris Statlander for the title, with the opportunity for her to add the unlucky number 13 title to her trophy cabinet.
