Mercedes Moné has revealed that her nose remains broken despite undergoing surgery following an injury sustained at AEW All In earlier this year.
The AEW Women’s World Champion sustained the injury early in her match against Willow Nightingale at All In on August 30. Although Mercedes Moné has since returned to in-ring competition, she confirmed during Saturday’s AEW WrestleDream post-show press conference that she is still recovering.
“I’m one month and a half post-surgery on my nose. It’s still very much broken. And I’m pushing through every single week, but I love what I do. I love defending my women’s championship,” Moné said.
Despite the ongoing issue, Moné made it clear she has no intention of letting the injury interfere with her championship reign.
“I’m here to be the best. So just having a broken nose, it’s not going to faze me. It’s not going to stop me. It’s not going to stop me from defending this. This is my destiny. So I’m ready to give everything that I have for it.”
Mercedes Moné Continues Wrestling Despite Broken Nose
Mercedes Moné returned to the ring on the September 30 edition of AEW Dynamite, which featured a special tribute to PAC. She subsequently defended the AEW Women’s World Championship against Queen Aminata on October 6 before teaming with Divine Dominion in a losing effort against the Triangle of Madness on October 14.
Most recently, Moné successfully defended her championship against Thekla at AEW WrestleDream, continuing her reign despite the injury. While Moné has been able to compete after surgery, her latest comments indicate her nose has not fully healed.
The champion has not provided a timeline for her full recovery, but she remains determined to keep defending her title while dealing with the injury.
