Mercedes Mone has addressed the backlash surrounding her new subscription-based texting service, standing by both the concept and the price.
The AEW star recently launched a private messaging service priced at $99.99 per month, which drew criticism online from fans who questioned the cost and the nature of the platform. Speaking with Nick Cannon on the February 16 episode of We Playin’ Spades, Mercedes Mone defended the idea, saying it was created to combat scams and offer fans legitimate access to her.
“I’m a CEO because there are so many people who say, ‘Oh, I’m talking to you, I’m messaging you,’ and they’re getting scammed,” she said. “So I’m like, how about you really do talk to me? You talk to the person you love, but you’ve got to pay me a month. I’ll text you whenever I’m free.”
What Did Mercedes Mone Say The Service Is For?
Mercedes Mone stressed that the service is meant strictly for communication with fans, not adult content, and described it as a premium offering for her most dedicated supporters.
“People are paying me a month to text me. No sexy stuff. These are just my legit fans,” she said. “It’s the Mone crew, the people that love me, respect me, and want to know about the ins and outs of my day, how I’m feeling, what it’s like being a CEO. And I teach them. I’m a CEO for a reason. Isn’t that great? A low price. Brilliant idea. It’s very low.”
The service has sparked debate online, with some fans questioning the value, while Mone maintains it is a controlled, premium experience aimed at her most loyal audience.
