Matt Hardy believes WrestleMania 42 could be the perfect stage for Danhausen to cross paths with one of WWE’s biggest names.
Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Hardy suggested a potential segment between Danhausen and John Cena, noting the 16-time world champion would likely embrace the idea.
“That would be fun, for sure, and John would eat that up,” Hardy said. “He would be so into it. I’m sure he’s a fan. He’s posted stuff with Danhausen before, just out of context, and I love how he does that. He’d be all about it.”
Cena is set to play a major role at WrestleMania 42 as the show’s special guest host, marking his first on-screen WWE appearance since retiring from in-ring competition in December.
Since arriving in WWE earlier this year, Danhausen has been featured in a variety of segments alongside General Managers, celebrities and top stars, including multiple interactions with The Miz, who has been dealing with the effects of Danhausen’s on-screen “curse.”
Matt Hardy Believes WWE Is Doing A Great Job With Danhausen
Matt Hardy praised WWE’s handling of Danhausen so far, pointing to the focus on character work rather than in-ring competition.
“I think they’ve been following a great formula with him,” Hardy said. “They haven’t focused on his wrestling, which I think is good. He should wrestle, but more as a novelty act. Most importantly, they’re putting him in a position to succeed.”
With WrestleMania 42 Night Two approaching, Hardy believes a segment involving Cena could be the next step in elevating Danhausen’s growing popularity.
