Matt Cardona isn’t sure some current WWE superstars would fare well outside of the company.
Speaking to foodie content creator Jeremy Jacobowitz, Cardona said: “Leaving WWE is where I found myself, right? And it’s certainly a sink-or-swim environment. So yes, do I think a lot of people would benefit? Sure. I also think a lot of people would fall on their face and flop because some of the people online, you know, they would say to me like: Oh, you’re only successful on the indies because you came from WWE. Well, then where’s everyone else who ever got fired? You know what I’m saying? Yeah, it helps that I learned so much from WWE but I took what I learned and I used that and utilized that on the outside because if everyone who was fired was a success outside WWE, where are all these people? You know what I’m saying?”.
He also revealed he made more working the indies than he is now.
“I made more money outside WWE than I ever made in WWE. Like I technically took a pay cut to go back to WWE. You know what I’m saying? That’s how much money I was making on the indies but WWE going back, it’s the ultimate opportunity because if it works out it’ll be the ultimate raise, right? Like I’m sitting here talking to you because WWE set this up,” he said.
Some more news from Matt Cardona:
It was an honor to be inducted into the Calhoun High School Athletic Hall of Fame today. Luckily, they made a sports ENTERTAINMENT category for me. I wasn’t a star athlete in high school. I was on the wrestling team…shout out to Coach Muscarella…he is an absolute legend! I was average at best. I didn’t take it seriously. I didn’t work as hard as I could have. I was too focused on pro wrestling. I took World Trampoline Wrestling, my backyard fed, VERY seriously. I graduated Calhoun in 2003 and instead of going away to college, I joined a pro wrestling school. Long story short, I’ve been a pro wrestler for 23 years. I’ve been fortunate to wrestle all over the world, win championships, have action figures made of me, wrestle at WrestleMania, etc. It’s been a rough ride but I’M NOT FINISHED! Congrats to the rest of the inductees.
