Veteran Japanese star Masato Tanaka is set to face AEW’s Mark Davis at the upcoming WrestleCon SuperShow during WrestleMania 42 week in Las Vegas.
The match was announced last night and will see Mark Davis, one-third of the reigning AEW World Trios Champions, take on the 53-year-old hardcore legend on April 16 at the Horseshoe in Las Vegas.
Tanaka made his professional wrestling debut in 1993 and became widely known to North American audiences during his time in ECW. He famously feuded with Mike Awesome in 1999, with the two trading the ECW World Championship before delivering a memorable rematch at WWE’s ECW One Night Stand event in 2005. The pair also had numerous battles in Japan’s Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling (FMW).
In addition to his ECW World Championship reign, Tanaka is a three-time ECW World Tag Team Champion, having held the titles once alongside Balls Mahoney and twice with Tommy Dreamer.
