WWE is reportedly dealing with significant visa issues affecting some of its talent.
According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, WWE is currently facing “significant visa issues,” although details regarding which performers may be impacted have not been disclosed. It is also unclear how long any potential complications could last.
Visa-related problems have become an increasingly common issue across professional wrestling in recent years, with several promotions forced to adjust plans due to travel and immigration delays.
AEW is currently dealing with visa issues involving Komander and The Beast Mortos, both of whom are unable to compete in the United States. The situation has created complications for Ring of Honor’s tag team division, as Mortos and Sammy Guevara are the reigning ROH Tag Team Champions.
When addressing Mortos’ absence, AEW President Tony Khan indicated the titles would likely be defended in Mexico. That prediction became reality last week when Guevara and Mortos successfully retained the championships against El Hijo del Villano and Villano III Jr. at Arena Mexico.
Elsewhere, Stardom was forced to alter its WrestleMania weekend plans earlier this year due to what the promotion described as an unusually lengthy visa process. As a result, Maki Itoh, Yuria Hime, and Fuwa-chan were unable to travel to the United States for scheduled appearances.
WWE’s Visa Issues Follow Attempts To Bring AAA Talent To Shows In The U.S.
The reported WWE issues also come months after reports that the company was exploring deals for additional AAA talent and securing the necessary visas to allow them to work regularly in the United States.
AAA’s first Triplemania event of the year is scheduled for September 11 in Las Vegas, making the movement of international talent an important issue for both promotions moving forward.
