New NXT recruit, Lizzy Rain says she wakes up with a smile on her face every day now that she is in NXT.
The Londoner told Metro UK: “I feel like my eyes are already tearing up. I’m quite an emotional person and when I got that call, I just burst into tears.”
Rain’s life feels like a dream to her.
“I don’t think I’ve still settled in yet, and I don’t really want to. I wake up with a smile on my face every day thinking, “Wow, I’m living the dream”. And to be honest, I don’t think they’ll ever go away,” she said.
Rain went on to praise wrestling legend and NXT coach Jazz for all of her guidance.
‘She’s a legend and an icon, so getting to talk to her and have her produce some of my matches at the live events on the weekends is very surreal. It kind of gives me goosebumps, and I get a bit giddy when I see her demonstrating some of her strikes. I think, “wow, that’s the legend Jazz, just casually showing us how to be intense”. It’s so cool. She’s so great and so supportive,” she said.
Even though she is wrestling in North America, Rain says she can feel the support from home.
“I can’t believe this is our life. People are staying up till 1am just to watch us wrestle in the UK, on Netflix. It’s really overwhelming,” she said.
Rain’s heavy metal gimmick was inspired by her uncle, Iron Maiden’s original drummer, Clive Burr, who passed away in 2013, at the age of 56 after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.
