Lex Luger revealed that an accident just one day before his WWE Hall of Fame induction kept him from completing an emotional moment as planned.
The former two-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion surprised fans at the 2025 ceremony when he rose from his wheelchair and walked towards the podium to accept his induction.
However, Lex Luger had originally intended to walk considerably further before a fall at Atlanta airport forced him to change his plans. Speaking on Going Ringside, Luger revealed that he fell while getting out of an Uber and landed on the concrete the day before the ceremony.
“[It] wasn’t the way it was supposed to go…But yeah, I did get up. So, that was a miracle of God right there because I had fallen the day before. So, I was in, yeah, in real bad shape,” Luger said. “I was going to walk out. I was going to come out in the chair, and walk the rest of the way. But we couldn’t do it, because I had fallen out of an Uber car the day before at the Atlanta airport on the cement.”
Lex Luger Overcame Accident For WWE Hall Of Fame Moment
Lex Luger has dealt with significant mobility issues for almost two decades. In 2007, he suffered a nerve impingement in his neck that resulted in paralysis. By 2014, Luger was regularly using a wheelchair.
The wrestling legend continued working on his mobility over the following years and received considerable support from longtime friend and fellow WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page. With Page’s help and encouragement, Luger stood from his wheelchair in 2025. Two months later, Luger demonstrated that progress in front of wrestling fans during his WWE Hall of Fame induction.
Although the airport accident prevented him from making the longer walk he had planned, Luger still got out of his wheelchair and walked to the podium before accepting his place in the WWE Hall of Fame.
