At the time, it was considered a passing of the torch. Now, it is being honored with a Hall of Fame induction.

The award was established for the first time last year. Steve Austin versus Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13 was honored. Likewise, Andre The Giant was the first ever inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame way back in 1993. He was the only inductee that year.
Hulk Hogan has been inducted twice already. Once, as himself in 2005 and once as a member of the NWO in 2020.
This year’s ceremony takes place on Friday, April 17, 2026, the night before WrestleMania.
