Road Dogg‘s potential move to TNA has reportedly not been finalised, despite his recent backstage appearance at TNA Slammiversary.
According to PWInsider, discussions between the WWE Hall of Famer and TNA remain ongoing, with both sides still working to finalise an agreement. Brian “Road Dogg” James was backstage at TNA’s Slammiversary pay-per-view in Boston, fuelling speculation that he had already joined the promotion. However, PWInsider reports that negotiations are ongoing and that no deal has been completed yet.
The report states that Road Dogg and TNA are still “ironing out a deal” for him to come into the company.
Further indication that an agreement has not yet been reached came during this week’s television tapings in Albany, New York. PWInsider reports that Road Dogg was not backstage for either night of the tapings, despite ongoing talks between the two sides.
While negotiations are said to be progressing, the report notes that an agreement was not finalised in time for this week’s events, meaning he has not officially joined the promotion.
Road Dogg Has Been Linked With TNA’s Head Of Creative Role Since His WWE Exit
Road Dogg has previously been linked to a backstage role in TNA since his departure from his WWE executive role back in March, with reports suggesting he could join the company’s creative team as it continues to reshape its behind-the-scenes structure.
At this stage, however, no position has been confirmed, and the exact nature of the discussions remains unknown.
TNA’s next set of television tapings is scheduled for July 30 and 31 in Philadelphia, with the former WWE Intercontinental Champion’s status expected to remain a storyline to watch while negotiations continue.
