Kyle Fletcher has confirmed he has signed a “big deal” to stay with AEW.
When Kyle Fletcher signed with AEW in 2023, it was as part of Aussie Open alongside his tag partner, Mark Davis. The pair went on to become a key part of the tag team divisions of both AEW and Ring of Honor, but their momentum was derailed when Davis suffered a wrist injury at WrestleDream the same year.
The absence of his longtime tag team partner led to Fletcher gaining more opportunities as a singles star as part of the Don Callis Family. Over the past two years, The Protostar has had a meteoric rise, with classic matches against Will Ospreay, Kazuchika Okada, and Adam Page as well as runs with the ROH TV Title and TNT Championship.
Kyle Fletcher’s dedication has now been rewarded, with the star telling Chris Van Vliet, in a new interview on Insight, that he signed his first big deal with AEW in 2025.
“I did (sign a new contract with AEW). Yeah. This year. Man, it felt really cool. I was on a beach in Jamaica when I signed my contract… It was pretty surreal. It was one of those moments that I thought about my whole life, signing that first big deal.”
Fletcher admits that the new contract gave him imposter syndrome, not least because it points to him reaching a level that not a lot of stars get to.
“It gave me a bit of like — I hate throwing around big buzz words — but imposter syndrome. It made me feel like I was like, man, when I was growing up, I thought there were maybe one or two people with these kinds of contracts in the whole world of professional wrestling and here I am.
“It’s a very weird feeling. It’s very weird to realize, like, man, this spot that I’m in, it’s pretty big, it’s pretty special. Not a lot of people get to this level.”
Kyle Fletcher Admits That He Feels The Pressure Of His Position In AEW
In another recent interview, Kyle Fletcher admitted that AEW “consumes his entire life.” The star explained that he is grateful for his position, but it leaves him with no time for anything else. While he sometimes finds his job overwhelming, though, he says he is still living out his dream in AEW and loves “every single part of it.”
