Kyle Fletcher has set himself a huge pro-wrestling goal, but he knows he might not achieve it.
Kyle Fletcher is one of the fastest-rising stars in All Elite Wrestling. In the past year, he has proven his ability in the ring with classic matches against the likes of Konosuke Takeshita, Kazuchika Okada, and Mark Briscoe, while becoming a two-time TNT Champion and the current International Champion. While the World Title still eludes him, the Protostar feels closer than ever to becoming a main event star.
In a new interview with Big Gold Belt Media, Fletcher looked to the future and what his legacy will be. Never one to be humble, the star said he wants to go down as the greatest professional wrestler to ever do it.
“I want to go down as the greatest professional wrestler to ever do it. The greatest professional wrestler to ever be in a pro wrestling ring. Wrestling is very subjective, so I know that it’s never going to be 100%, everyone unanimously agrees that Kyle Fletcher is the greatest pro wrestler ever. But, I think for me, setting that as my big overarching goal in my career and in my life, it’s gonna strive me to keep pushing because it’s something that I can never fully achieve, if that makes sense.”
“It Gives Me Something To Keep Chasing Forever” – Kyle Fletcher
Fletcher knows opinions are subjective, but he wants to be part of the conversation at least, and will strive to be remembered as one of the all-time greats.
“It’s a goal that… it’s so subjective that I will never hit a certain point, I’ll never have a certain match, and then people will go ‘Alright it’s done, he can stop now, he’s the greatest wrestler of all time!’ That’s not how it works. It’ll be something that, like, when my career is long over, hopefully people look back and they go, ‘Dang, that Kyle Fletcher he might be the greatest to ever do it.’
“I think that’s why I like setting that as my goal because it gives me something to keep chasing forever. It forces me to keep improving because that goal is never going to be achieved. So yeah, to answer it, that’s what I want my legacy to be, bro. I want to at least be in the conversation, you know, that’s my goal.”
Kyle Fletcher will be in action at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam Mexico on August 5th, where he will defend the International Championship against ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey.
