Kota Ibushi has provided an update two months after suffering a broken femur.
On the October 12th edition of AEW Collision, Kota Ibushi continued his rivalry with the Don Callis Family, taking on Josh Alexander. During the bout, both men went to the top turnbuckle, where Alexander picked the Golden Star up for a Fireman’s Carry off the top.
However, the men slipped and fell to the floor, with Ibushi catching his ankle on the top rope and landing awkwardly. After the bout, he was carried out of the arena on a stretcher. In an update soon after the match, Ibushi revealed he had undergone surgery for a broken femur.
“Please Give Me A Little More Time” – Kota Ibushi
Now, in a post on social media, the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion has given fans another update on his progress. After noting he was told it would take two years to get back in the ring, Ibushi said, “it seems that I don’t need that.” In an accompanying video, he showed himself standing as he trained with a kettlebell.
“I suffered a serious injury. The doctor told me that it would take about two years for me to return to competition. It’s been about two months since I was injured. However, it seems that I don’t need that. But that doesn’t mean I’ll take any easy steps. This time, I really want to step into the wrestling ring. So please give me a little more time.
My English may be strange, but please forgive me.”
At the time of the injury, Kota Ibushi had only recently returned to AEW after almost two years battling to overcome shoulder and foot injuries. It is currently unknown when he will next be seen on AEW TV.
