Mexican wrestling legend Konnan is facing a lengthy recovery after reportedly undergoing a second leg amputation, but according to Vince Russo, WWE has stepped in to cover all of his medical expenses.
Speaking on The Coach & Bro Show, Vince Russo revealed that he recently spoke with the former WCW United States Champion and learned that the wrestling veteran has now undergone a double leg amputation following ongoing health complications.
“Konnan has gone through a double leg amputation,” Russo said. “I knew he had the one leg amputated, and the second one was in question. They had to remove the second one.”
Russo said he contacted Konnan after hearing the news, but kept the conversation brief due to the former WCW star’s condition.
“I didn’t talk to him long because he’s very weak. He’s going through grueling rehabilitation, learning how to cope with it. I can’t even imagine that,” Russo explained. “He really sounded exhausted.”
Vince Russo Says WWE Has Covered All Of Konnan’s Medical Expenses
Despite the difficult circumstances, Vince Russo shared some positive news from their conversation. According to Russo, the 62-year-old wrestling legend told him that WWE has covered every cent of his medical bills.
“Konnan said to me that the WWE has paid every single cent of his medical bills,” Russo said. “And that’s got to be pointed out, and that’s got to be said.”
The update comes after reports surfaced in March that Konnan had been hospitalised and undergone a leg amputation. Russo noted that with months of rehabilitation and extensive medical treatment involved, the costs could easily have climbed into seven figures.
