Tony Khan has revealed that he is not happy about how FTR lost the AAA Tag Team Championships.
FTR dropped the titles to Dragon Lee and Dralistico at an AAA event on December 29, 2022.
“I had not agreed to that, actually…What we had agreed is that FTR would go down and wrestle Rush and Dralistico. Something happened during the day in which Dragon Lee was in there…I talked to FTR and they said there was some strange stuff going on there,” he said in an interview with Case Lowe of Q101.
Khan felt he was betrayed by the bait and switch.
“Right after Dynamite that match went off and they announced that Dragon Lee was signing with WWE. He still had FTR’s name on the plate (of the tag team belts). It was really a double cross. That would never happen now,” he said about AEW’s relationship with CMLL.
Khan was not surprised that WWE bought AAA.
“It is not unexpected. I have kind of been expecting that since the way the Dragon Lee signing was announced,” he said.
