Former WWE Champion Kevin Nash has stated that neither WWE Raw, SmackDown, nor NXT is the company’s best show on TV right now.
WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash says Unreal is his favourite WWE production, admitting he is more interested in what happens behind the scenes than what takes place inside the ring. Speaking on Kliq This, Nash discussed how modern wrestling fans have a greater understanding of the industry than ever before, pointing to WWE’s behind-the-scenes series as evidence of that shift.
“Of all the shows that WWE puts out, by far my favourite to watch is Unreal.”
Kevin Nash revealed he had already watched the first episode of the latest season, which focuses on John Cena‘s retirement run, and said the backstage stories are more compelling to him than the matches themselves.
“I’m more intrigued by the backstory.”
The two-time WWE Hall of Famer argued that wrestling fans have always wanted a glimpse behind the curtain, recalling how live audiences would often become distracted if activity was taking place behind the entrance curtain during a match.
“Everybody in the building wants to see what’s going on behind the curtain. I can give two s***s about what’s going on in the ring because that’s what they don’t get to see.”
Kevin Nash Believes Unreal Offers Fans A Better Understanding Of How WWE Storylines Work
Kevin Nash also believes the fact that viewers already know how major storylines end does not lessen the appeal of Unreal. Instead, he said the series gives fans a better understanding of how plans evolve behind the scenes.
“You’re watching something that has already played out. You think you know how it happened, but then you see Seth’s shoulder gets hurt. You see Liv get hurt. You see the people go down. You see the plans get changed.”
He added that the documentary highlights the collaborative effort required to produce WWE programming, praising not only the creative team but also the performers who adapt to changing circumstances.
“How much 3D chess is actually being played by the people that are creating the actual product on all levels, not just your creative team, but the guys and the girls that are out there putting it together in the ring.”
The latest season of Unreal follows several major WWE storylines, including John Cena’s retirement tour, while offering viewers a behind-the-scenes look at how the company’s biggest creative decisions are made.
