Kevin Nash has spoken about the current WWE wrestler he believes is the modern-day equivalent of “Macho Man” Randy Savage.
WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash believes Seth Rollins carries the spirit of a modern-day “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Speaking on an episode of Kliq This in 2023, Nash said it took him time to warm to the Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins persona, but he eventually recognised parallels between Rollins and the WWE icon. Nash pointed to Rollins’ flamboyant presentation and overall aura as the closest contemporary equivalent to Savage.
“I didn’t like Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins’ character for quite a while,” Nash admitted. “Then I realised in the last two months that he’s kind of like the modern-day Macho Man. He has the glasses and he’s got that vibe. If you were to modernise Macho Man, it’d be Seth. Plus, he can work his ass off; he’s really good.”
Nash’s comments underline the influence Savage continues to have across generations, with Rollins’ combination of showmanship and in-ring quality drawing clear comparisons from one of wrestling’s most respected veterans.
Did Kevin Nash Ever Wrestle “Macho Man” Randy Savage?
Yes. Kevin Nash and “Macho Man” Randy Savage crossed paths multiple times throughout the 1990s, particularly during their time together in WCW. The two were frequent opponents and occasional allies during the height of the New World Order storyline, facing each other in tag matches and multi-man bouts. However, they only had one singles match against each other at the 1999 Great American Bash, where Nash defeated Savage via DQ to retain his WCW World Title.
Nash and Savage also faced each other once in the WWF at the 1993 Survivor Series in one of the Survivor Series eight-man tag matches. They also squared off in TNA at Turning Point 2004, where Savage teamed with AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy to take on Nash, Jeff Jarrett, and Scott Hall.
