Former AEW and IWGP World Champion Kenny Omega has announced his involvement in the newest project of a major video game franchise.
Kenny Omega has taken his love of video games into a major new arena, revealing that he has contributed motion capture work to Street Fighter 6. On January 21, 2026, Omega announced that he provided motion capture (mocap) for Alex, who is set to headline Year 3 of Street Fighter 6’s downloadable content. Omega shared the news on social media, expressing his excitement about working on a character he has long admired.
“Incredibly happy to announce that I’ve done some big mocap work as Alex in Street Fighter 6,” Omega wrote. “Can’t wait for you all to see more, he’s my favourite character in Street Fighter.”
Omega had earlier fuelled speculation by reacting to the official Alex reveal trailer, joking about the similarities between himself and the character. In the footage, Alex can be seen using moves clearly inspired by Omega, including a knee strike reminiscent of his V Trigger and a variation of the One-Winged Angel. The character also mirrors Omega’s stance and body language, prompting Omega to quip, “It’s almost like looking in a mirror.”
The gaming announcement capped off a busy week for Omega, who also returned to singles action on Wednesday night’s AEW Dynamite, defeating Josh Alexander in his first one-on-one match since All In Texas.
Alex will become the third DLC addition in Street Fighter 6 Year 3, following the release of Sagat and C Viper in 2025. The character is scheduled to debut in the game on March 17, 2026. Street Fighter is also set to expand beyond gaming this year, with a live-action film in development featuring stars such as Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes and Jason Momoa, further highlighting the franchise’s growing crossover appeal.
How Long Has Kenny Omega Been With AEW?
Kenny Omega has been with All Elite Wrestling since the company’s launch in 2019. Omega was one of AEW’s founding Executive Vice Presidents and played a central role in shaping the promotion during its early years, both in the ring and behind the scenes.
Since joining AEW, Omega has held multiple championships, most notably the AEW World Championship, and has been involved in several of the company’s defining storylines. Despite time away due to injury, he remains one of AEW’s most recognisable stars and a key figure whenever he is active on the roster.
