A memorable part of John Morrison’s WWE presentation has been revisited, with the veteran revealing how his distinctive entrance came together behind the scenes.
John Morrison, now competing as Johnny TV in AEW, rose to prominence after competing on Tough Enough III in 2002 and went on to enjoy a successful run in WWE as part of MNM and later as a singles star. Among the elements fans continue to associate with him is his slow-motion entrance, which became a defining feature of his character.
Speaking on the Off The Ropes podcast, Morrison explained that the concept was a collaborative effort, ultimately shaped by Stephanie McMahon.
“That was mostly Stephanie, actually,” Morrison said. “We were having a conversation about entrance ideas, and I had brought up wanting to have a more cinematic vibe to the entrance.”
He expanded on the original concept, noting that he had envisioned using advanced camera techniques to create a dramatic visual effect.
“I think I’d talked about trying to use a phantom camera that shoots almost 100,000 frames per second, so if you see those water drops slowly dropping, I thought about doing something like that.”
John Morrison’s WWE Entrance Was Almost Entirely Different
John Morrison added that he had also considered a more traditional cinematic-style entrance but decided against it because it would have been similar to Goldust’s presentation. Instead, Stephanie McMahon refined the idea into something more practical for television.
“She just kind of put it together in her head, like, ‘Why don’t we just go from regular speed to slow motion, and then there will be a time-lapse, and then you can walk out,’” Morrison recalled.
According to Morrison, McMahon’s involvement helped bring the concept to life quickly, making the entrance a regular part of his on-screen persona. The entrance would go on to become one of the most recognisable elements of Morrison’s WWE run, remaining a lasting visual associated with his time in the company.
