John Cena shared a bizarre story from his WWE career, revealing that he accidentally ate a hamburger that Hornswoggle had vomited on during an eventful night in Ireland.
The 17-time world champion recalled the incident during an appearance on comedian Trevor Noah’s What Now podcast, reflecting on some of the memorable experiences he had while travelling with WWE.
According to John Cena, the incident occurred when a volcanic eruption disrupted flights and left WWE’s roster stranded in Ireland, unable to return to the United States for an episode of Raw. With their travel plans cancelled and little to do, several wrestlers decided to make the most of their unexpected stay.
“We got stuck in Ireland because there was a volcano and we couldn’t get back to the states to perform [on] ‘[WWE] Raw.’ The last thing you want to do is leave us stuck someplace alone idle with nothing to do. Boy, we had a great night,” Cena recalled.
John Cena Reveals How He Accidentally Ate Hornswoggle’s Burger
John Cena explained that the evening involved fellow WWE stars Hornswoggle and Christian Cage, who were also stranded in Ireland. After a night of drinking, Christian helped an intoxicated Hornswoggle back to his hotel room, where the former Cruiserweight Champion had ordered room service. However, Hornswoggle had been sick on his hamburger, prompting Christian to remove the tray from the room and leave it in the hallway.
“A friend of mine, Dylan, who wrestled under the moniker Hornswoggle, and another friend of mine, Christian Cage, who was Christian in the WWE. Christian took Dylan to bed. Dylan was drunk and he had room service and ended up throwing up on his hamburger,” Cena explained.
“Christian put him to bed and tucked him in. He said, ‘Dude, I’m gonna get the tray out,’ and put the tray in the hallway.”
Several hours later, Cena returned to the hotel hungry, only to find no food options available. Spotting what appeared to be an untouched hamburger on a room service tray in the hallway, Cena decided to take it back to his room.
“Flash forward to hours later, I am heavily influenced. Food is closed and there are no options available. I look and I’m like, ‘That burger is not even touched. I’m just gonna bring that inside.’ I ate the thing.”
It was not until the following morning that John Cena discovered what had happened. Christian and Hornswoggle told him the hamburger he ate was the same one Hornswoggle had vomited on the previous evening. Cena recalled the incident with amusement, admitting that the experience had made him considerably more cautious about eating food left outside hotel rooms.
