John Cena has broken the silence after the announcement was made that a tournament will be held to decide his final WWE opponent.
On Saturday Night’s Main Event, WWE announced that a tournament will be hosted to determine who will challenge John Cena in his final match at the December 13 Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Now, Cena has posted on Twitter about the tournament, stating that he wants to “repay the favour” for the opportunities he’s been given in WWE.
For over two decades, I have tried to make the most of every opportunity I’ve been presented. On December 13th, I’d like to repay the favor.

A 16-man tournament will start on the November 10 episode of Raw and will feature competitors from Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and “maybe some faces who don’t even work here”, Cena said. Dave Meltzer previously reported that a tournament would take place in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, and that WWE has already chosen Cena’s final opponent to be none other than “The Ring General” Gunther.
What Title Has It Been Reported That John Cena Will Defend In His Final Match?
Dave Meltzer also reported recently that WWE plans to have John Cena win and defend the Intercontinental Championship in his final match. In the Observer last week, Meltzer reported that the finish for the Dominik Mysterio vs. Penta vs. Rusev Triple Threat match for the IC Title was a forgone conclusion, as WWE apparently plans for Cena to defeat Mysterio for the IC Title and to defend it in his final match against Gunther.
It is not known if WWE plans to have Cena win in his final match, or if he will honour wrestling tradition and go out on his back.
