John Cena will reportedly remain under contract with WWE despite retiring from in-ring competition. According to Fightful Select, Cena has a multi-year agreement to serve as an ambassador for the company, with WWE sources claiming the deal also prevents him from wrestling for another promotion. Cena has repeatedly insisted that his retirement is permanent and that he does not intend to wrestle again. While his days as an active competitor appear to be over, the agreement ensures the former World Champion will remain connected to WWE for years to come.
Mustafa Ali will throw out the Ceremonial First Pitch on Wednesday, August 12, at Rate Field before the first-place Chicago White Sox play host to the Cincinnati Reds. The game starts at 6:40 p.m. TNA Lockdown is Sunday, August 23, at Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago, with EVERY match inside a steel cage.
Roman Reigns will return to WWE Raw next week in Buffalo, New York, making his first appearance since the post-SummerSlam episode. The World Heavyweight Champion is expected to continue his developing programme with LA Knight, while Jey Uso is also set to deliver Solo Sikoa back to Reigns after defeating him in Monday’s main event. Reigns will additionally be present as the tournament to determine his challenger for WWE’s September show in Mexico City continues. Dragon Lee will face El Hijo del Dr Wagner Jr., while Rey Fenix takes on El Fiscal to complete the opening round.
CM Punk has announced that he will appear at an untelevised NXT live event in Petersburg, Virginia, on Saturday, August 15. The reigning Undisputed WWE Champion revealed the appearance on Instagram, although WWE has not confirmed what he will be doing and no match has been announced. Punk recently appeared at a WWE live event in Fairfax, where he offered Cody Rhodes a championship rematch after admitting the circumstances surrounding his SummerSlam victory were dirty. Kevin Owens, however, remains Punk’s official number one contender after winning a four-way match at SummerSlam. Punk captured the title from Sami Zayn on the July 6 Raw before retaining against Rhodes at SummerSlam following interference from Randy Orton.
