Joe Hendry has discussed why he chose to start his WWE career in the developmental brand, NXT.
Joe Hendry has explained why he decided to join WWE following his breakout run in TNA Wrestling, where he became one of the promotion’s most talked-about stars thanks to his viral entrance theme and strong World Championship reign.
Speaking on the No-Contest Wrestling podcast, Hendry said his move to WWE, and specifically NXT, was driven by his desire to develop further in the ring.
“Right now I am obsessed with getting better at wrestling, and trying to be the absolute best professional wrestler that I can be,” he said.
Hendry added that NXT and the Performance Center offered the environment he felt he needed to progress.
“That is the primary reason why I chose to come to NXT, to evolve as a wrestler. I really feel I can take this all the way, and the Performance Center has the tools for me to do that. I am obsessed with getting better, so I find it super hard to switch off from the wrestling business.”
Although still early into his WWE tenure, Hendry has already secured a high-profile WrestleMania match with Randy Orton and is reportedly on a main roster–level contract while continuing to compete in NXT.
When Did Joe Hendry Sign With WWE?
Joe Hendry officially signed with WWE in November 2025, following a breakout year that saw his popularity surge during his run with TNA Wrestling. His viral entrance theme, strong in-ring performances and cameo appearances on NXT and the main roster positioned him as one of the most talked-about free agents of the year.
WWE finalised his deal shortly before his full-time move to NXT, where he began training at the Performance Center and preparing for his first major WWE programmes.
