Jim Ross has shared a positive update on his health, revealing he is set to leave the hospital after several weeks of treatment. The WWE Hall of Famer and AEW commentator posted the news on social media, telling fans he expects to be discharged on Tuesday.
“Going home this Tuesday!” Ross wrote. “Had a great phone visit with Steve Austin today. Biz is picking up!”
The update comes after Ross revealed last week that he had spent 22 days in hospital in his hometown of Norman, Oklahoma. At the time, he thanked fans for their continued support and made it clear he was determined to keep fighting.
“Don’t count me out just yet. I’m still fighting!”
Why Was Jim Ross In The Hospital?
Jim Ross has not disclosed the reason for his hospital stay, and no official details have been released, although it followed a recent fall.
The veteran broadcaster has battled several health issues in recent years. He successfully overcame skin cancer in 2021, underwent hip surgery in 2024, and was diagnosed with colon cancer in May 2025 before announcing later that year that he was cancer-free. Ross has also dealt with Bell’s palsy throughout his career.
In recent months, Ross has provided regular updates on his Grilling JR podcast, explaining that travelling had been the biggest obstacle to returning to AEW commentary.
His most recent appearance came at AEW Double or Nothing, where he called the Continental Championship match between Jon Moxley and Kyle O’Reilly.
