Jim Ross has shared a sobering update after a frightening fall at home that left him unable to get up for several hours.
The 74-year-old Hall of Famer was absent from this week’s AEW Dynamite after suffering the fall, and while his injury was already known, the full extent only came to light during the latest episode of Grilling JR. Jim Ross revealed that he tripped while heading to his chair, hit the hardwood floor hard, and was left there for five hours with no one available to assist him.
“I’m pretty good. I’m not as sore as I have been after some of my falls, but the hardwood floor of my living room is still unkind,” Ross said. “Before we started recording, I laid on the floor for five hours. My ace assistant had a family emergency, his phone died, so I couldn’t get a hold of him. That won’t happen again.”
Despite the severity of the situation, Ross acknowledged how fortunate he was that things did not turn out worse. Maintaining his trademark grit and humour, the longtime commentator said he eventually managed to get back on his feet later that afternoon.
“I got lucky at the end of the day,” Ross added. “I just tripped going to my chair. I took a hell of a bump and laid there from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. No fun whatsoever. But all’s well that ends well. I’m glad I’m moving around, and I appreciate the concern and everyone’s support.”
When Did Jim Ross Return To AEW?
Jim Ross had only recently returned to the commentary desk for AEW earlier this month in Oklahoma on the January 7 episode of Dynamite, making his latest setback all the more concerning.
While no timetable has been given for his on-air return, his recovery appears to be moving in a positive direction.
