JBL has revealed the two opponents he considers the greatest he has ever worked with, saying they brought the best out of him every time they stepped into the ring together.
Speaking in a 2012 interview with The Bermuda Sun, JBL named The Undertaker first. He said that sharing the ring with The Undertaker was a privilege because of the presence, timing and intensity he brought to every performance. JBL explained that The Undertaker would push him physically and mentally, which made every match feel special and credible.
He then highlighted Eddie Guerrero as another favourite, describing Eddie as a rare talent with an instinct for storytelling and an ability to elevate any opponent. JBL pointed to their feud in 2004 as a defining period, saying Eddie made him a better performer and helped solidify his main event run.
“The Undertaker was [by] far the best. He and Eddie Guerrero who was probably the most popular Hispanic character of all time? And those guys were just magicians. Those guys were so good and so professional and talented.”
JBL said both men represent different sides of what makes wrestling great, with The Undertaker bringing an aura that few can match and Guerrero bringing emotion, heart and creativity. Together, they shaped some of the most significant moments of his career.
When Did JBL Win The WWE Title?
JBL won the WWE Championship on 27 June 2004 at The Great American Bash, defeating Eddie Guerrero in a Texas Bullrope Match. The victory marked the start of his first and only reign with the title.
He went on to hold the championship for 280 days, one of the longest reigns of the modern era at that time, and defended it against challengers such as The Undertaker, Booker T and Big Show before losing the belt to John Cena at WrestleMania 21 in 2005.
