WWE Hall of Famer JBL spoke about which wrestler’s finisher was the most painful to take.
JBL has named The Undertaker’s Last Ride as the most painful finishing move he has ever taken during his WWE career. Speaking with Video Gamer, JBL was asked to reflect on various performers he worked with and the physical toll of certain moves. When questioned about the most painful finisher he experienced, he singled out The Undertaker’s elevated powerbomb.
He said that despite having taken far worse bumps throughout his career, the Last Ride consistently stood out due to the height and impact involved. He noted that the move involved being lifted unusually high before being driven straight down to the mat, which often left the wind completely knocked out of him.
He also emphasised that the pain was not the result of unsafe work. JBL stressed that The Undertaker is among the safest performers in wrestling history and that the move was executed properly every time. According to JBL, the discomfort came purely from the distance of the fall rather than any lack of control.
“He’s one of the safest wrestlers in the history of the business, and he was safe with this too. It just, it was just so far down, I guess. I don’t know what it was. It was something that just knocked the wind out of me!”
JBL added that the first time he took the move was particularly jarring, as he was not prepared for how far he would be lifted and dropped. Even with experience, the move remained one that stood out above others for its physical impact.
“It just killed me like, oh my God. Like how far did I just fall? Because I wasn’t expecting it the first time. I guess just going straight down, I don’t know what happened.”
Widely regarded as one of wrestling’s most iconic finishing manoeuvres, The Undertaker’s Last Ride was a signature variation of the powerbomb and was used extensively during his run at the top of WWE.
JBL, a former WWE Champion and long-time rival of The Undertaker, worked extensively with him during the Ruthless Aggression era and has consistently praised his professionalism and in-ring safety throughout the years.
