WWE Hall of Famer JBL has weighed in on Chris Jericho remaining with AEW, backing the veteran star’s decision and encouraging him to continue his in-ring career.
Speaking on Something To Wrestle, JBL addressed speculation that Chris Jericho could have returned to WWE, instead praising him for choosing what he enjoys at this stage of his career.
“You know, when you’re younger, you do stuff for money reasons… When you get older and you’ve taken care of your money like Chris Jericho has, you have the options,” JBL said. “Chris now is just gonna do stuff that’s very enjoyable to him and I greatly admire that. I think what he’s going to do there is gonna be fantastic.”
JBL added that he expects Jericho to remain a key performer, highlighting his ability to continually evolve.
“Chris always has a new look, Chris always has new stuff that he’s doing. I got a lot of admiration for Chris. I think it’s going to be a heck of a run,” he said.
JBL Thinks Chris Jericho Made The Right Decision By Not Choosing To Have A Retirement Tour Now
There had been discussion about Chris Jericho potentially embarking on a retirement tour if he returned to WWE, with names such as Gunther mentioned as possible opponents. However, JBL dismissed the idea, arguing that Jericho still has more to offer in the ring.
“Why end your career? Jericho is still apparently very healthy. He’s still on top of his game. He still looks great. To me, there’s no reason to end a career,” JBL said. “There’s no reason to have a retirement tour; have a tour. But if you want to come back again, come back again.”
He also pointed to other potential matchups had Jericho returned, including Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and CM Punk.
