WWE Hall of Famer JBL has named the strongest wrestlers he has ever encountered, highlighting feats of strength by Mark Henry and Brock Lesnar.
Speaking with Video Gamer, JBL was asked to identify the strongest competitor he ever shared a ring with. He pointed first to Henry, recounting a backstage incident that left a lasting impression on everyone present.
According to JBL, Henry once ripped a locker clean off its hinges after being asked to help retrieve a bag that had been locked inside. JBL recalled that the locker had been secured with a padlock and that others were attempting to remove it with tools before Henry intervened. Using only his strength, Henry pulled the locker free, prompting stunned reactions from those in the room.
“Mark Henry. I saw Mark Henry rip a locker off its hinges one time. Arn Anderson had locked a bag in the locker with his old padlock and they were trying to crowbar the locker off the hinges. Mark Henry walked in and Ron Simmons said ‘Mark, pull that locker off its hinges’. Mark put a towel over the locker and he pulled that locker off its hinges.”
JBL described the moment as something he had never seen before and doubted he would ever witness again, adding that Henry’s strength was so extraordinary that it placed him in a category occupied by very few individuals. He noted that while many people consider Henry to be the strongest man ever, even being part of that discussion was remarkable.
“I’ve never seen anything like that in my life and I don’t think I ever will. I mean, that literally was something that probably only one person on the planet could have done. And literally when he got done everybody said, Mark, if we’ve ever offended you, we want to apologize right now!”
Which Other Wrestlers Did JBL Mention As Being Among The Strongest Ever?
While Henry topped JBL’s list, he also acknowledged several other exceptionally strong wrestlers. JBL mentioned Ken Patera and Ted Arcidi, noting Arcidi’s status as the first man to bench press 700 pounds. He then turned his attention to Brock Lesnar, sharing a lighter backstage story that nonetheless underscored Lesnar’s power.
JBL recalled Lesnar playfully grabbing him during an interaction backstage and lifting him off the ground with ease. Despite asking Lesnar to let go so he could assess the damage, JBL said Lesnar continued laughing as he held him in the air, leaving JBL stunned by his raw strength.
“Brock Lesnar. He grabbed me one time backstage and he was horsing around. I knocked some stuff out of his hand, just playing around and he grabbed me and I said, Brock, you’ve hurt me. I don’t know how bad, but if you’ll let go, I’ll assess the damage. He’s just laughing. He’s got me up in the air and just shaking me around. I’m like, my God, how strong are you?”
JBL concluded by joking that if the Earth were ever invaded, Lesnar would be the obvious choice to lead the defence, underlining just how physically imposing he found the former WWE Champion to be.
“If aliens ever invade this earth we’re sending out Brock, he’ll beat their ass all the way back to Mars or Pluto, wherever they’re from.”
The comments offered another reminder of the rare physical gifts possessed by some of WWE’s most dominant performers.
