Jake Roberts has confirmed his time with AEW has come to an end after five years with the company.
The WWE Hall of Famer revealed he is no longer under contract with AEW but made it clear he is leaving on good terms, praising company president Tony Khan for his leadership.
Speaking with Bill Apter, Jake Roberts reflected positively on his run in AEW, where he first arrived in 2020 and was primarily paired with Lance Archer as his manager.
“Loved it. Loved it. I just finished up working for him. I’m no longer employed by AEW. He is awesome. He really is. A breath of fresh air.”
Although Roberts had not appeared regularly on AEW television in recent years, he was widely believed to have continued contributing behind the scenes after Archer’s appearances became less frequent.
In May 2024, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that Roberts had recently signed a new contract with the promotion, suggesting the Hall of Famer would remain involved both on and off-screen.
However, Roberts has now confirmed that his AEW tenure has officially ended.
Jake Roberts Did Not Confirm When His AEW Contract Expired
The 70-year-old did not reveal when his contract expired or explain why the two sides parted ways, but his comments indicated there is no animosity surrounding his departure.
During his time in AEW, Jake Roberts served as one of the company’s most recognisable veteran personalities, lending his experience to Lance Archer’s presentation while also making occasional appearances in interviews and backstage segments.
While Roberts’ future plans remain unknown, his latest comments suggest he leaves AEW with fond memories of his time in the promotion and a great deal of respect for Tony Khan.
