Jade Cargill wants to be a fighting champion.
At Saturday Night’s Main Event in November, Jade Cargill defeated Tiffany Stratton to capture the WWE Women’s Championship. Since then, the star has only defended the title once on TV, overcoming Jordynne Grace on the February 13th edition of SmackDown. Outside of that match, Cargill has only wrestled on the blue brand three other times in 2026.
In an interview with Complex Graps, Cargill addressed her lack of in-ring action, saying she does want to wrestle more and solidify her championship reign against top stars like Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss.
“I mean, I want to wrestle. When you become champion, you want to defend your title as much as possible. We have a stellar locker room, but they’re all tied in the tag division, making that strong and I get it, but I want to wrestle. I want to have matches with Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, and all of these top girls. I feel like if I had a rematch with Tiffany, that would’ve solidified or be one of the things that solidified my win.”
“The person that injured me to have me out was Nia Jax, and I think that would be something we can run back even though we’re both heels. I feel like I’m in that in between point, I’m kind of a tweener and I don’t care about anybody. I wrestled Chelsea [Green] and Chelsea is a heel.”
Cargill finished by saying that while she enjoys cutting promos and “dressing pretty,” she’s really there to wrestle.
“So I just would’ve wished to wrestle more. That’s all I want to do is wrestle, that’s all I want to do. I think getting dressed up pretty and nice. Having these promos, I love that too because it puts me to the test but I like wrestling and that’s what I’m here for.”
Original Plans For Jade Cargill At WrestleMania 42 Revealed
While she is now on a collision course with Rhea Ripley, the original plan for WrestleMania 42 reportedly called for Jade Cargill to defend her title against Bianca Belair. According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that plan would have seen Belair win the Royal Rumble or Elimination Chamber to set up the bout.
Unfortunately, Bianca Belair is still out of action with an injured finger, for which she underwent surgery in February 2026.
