An injured former AEW Champion has provided an update on their recovery and when they could be expected to return to the ring.
Former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa spoke in an interview with “Midnight Movie Trash” at the Big Tex Comic Con and discussed topics such as her wrestling promotion, Mission Pro Wrestling, being on hiatus, and what inspired her to start her Taco vlog.
Another topic that came up during the interview was her absence from AEW TV, as she hasn’t been since she competed in the Casino Gauntlet match at All In Texas on July 12. Rosa said that she is rehabbing some injuries that she picked up a few months ago and that she has received good news about her recovery, and she is expected to be back in the ring “fairly soon.” Although she didn’t specify an exact date for when she will be back in action.
Thunder Rosa’s AEW Women’s World Title Win
Thunder Rosa won the AEW Women’s World Title on March 16, 2022, on the special Dynamite episode titled “St. Patrick’s Day Slam”, defeating Britt Baker in a Steel Cage match to become the fifth holder of the Women’s World Championship. Rosa defended the title six times before she was forced to vacate the title due to suffering a back injury on August 24, 2022. AEW initially planned to keep the title on Rosa while she recovered, but on the November 23, 2022, episode of Dynamite, it was announced that Rosa had vacated the title.
