Bill Goldberg has called his retirement match “a little less than to be desired” but cannot make his true feelings public right now.
A guest on The Ariel Helwani Show, Goldberg praised the chance he had been given by WWE.
“It was an honor and a privilege just to get something like that done…Just to get the opportunity to put the stamp on it the way I wanted to, well, not the way I wanted to, but as in control as I could be I would be remiss in saying I garnered that opportunity with open arms and I was very appreciative of it,” he said.
When pressed by Helwani he admitted the match didn’t go down as he wanted it to.
“I cannot say I wasn’t too thrilled about part of that…Well, it was Saturday Night’s Main Event, live TV in Atlanta, you always have your dreams of how you are going to do things and ultimately to have a little bit more control over the time and the space which would have been much more preferred, let’s put it that way,” he said admitting it would have been better if the match was held on an actual PLE.
He wasn’t happy about his goodbye speech being chopped off like it was.
“They cut me off! I had twenty seconds with the microphone in my hand for God’s sake! I have two weeks before I can really spill the beans and make my feelings kind of known about the entire rundown, the inception of the idea to its delivery. It was a little less than to be desired but again I am not going to complain because not many people get that opportunity,” he said.
Admitting he felt as if he were “put behind the 8-ball”, Goldberg praised Gunther for his work that night.
“Gunther was a great guy to work with. It was awesome! I had a good time in there,” he said.
“Fifty-eight years old, I am beaten up and broken down. I did my best,”
“I gave the best performance that was humanly possible,”
