A Hollywood actor has spoken about why they didn’t enjoy the 2026 Royal Rumble.
Stephen Amell was not impressed with the 2026 edition of the Royal Rumble, criticising both the show’s overall quality and the presentation of the venue. Amell, a lifelong wrestling fan who has competed at events such as SummerSlam 2015 and the original All In, shared his thoughts during an interview with iHeartRadio. Asked about Roman Reigns winning this year’s Rumble, he admitted he was not a fan of the show.
“I thought the Rumble was bad,” Amell said. “Listen, not every show can be great. I thought that Night 2 of WrestleMania last year, and I was there, I thought that was an A++ night of wrestling. I thought top to bottom, tip to tail, it was great. I thought that this Rumble was… I just didn’t think it was great.”
Amell also commented on the atmosphere inside the Riyadh venue, which drew criticism from fans online. He said the lighting and presentation made the building appear empty, even if it was not.
“And I just thought that the atmosphere, it seemed weird, like the arena was kind of empty. Or was it? It was just optically, the way that it looks and presents is important,” he said. “And I thought that it looked and presented poorly, relative to previous Rumbles. I’ve been to, I think, the last three prior to this in San Antonio, Tampa, and Indianapolis. Those shows were awesome. The atmosphere was great, and this one just wasn’t.”
The 2026 Royal Rumble took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marking the first time the event had been held in the country.
