Hijo de Fishman, the wrestler accused of killing a referee with a piledriver has been released today and the case has been closed.
He had been charged with alleged involuntary manslaughter but has reached a settlement with the victim’s family.
Publi Metro reports that Hijo de Fishman has agreed to pay El Búho’s family 586,000 pesos, which is the equivalent of $31,816.55 USD.
Referee Gerardo Germán Pineda, known as “El Búho” was killed after Hijo de Fishman lost to Máscara Sagrada NG. Hijo de Fishman was disqualified and piledrove El Búho in anger, as per the wrestling angle.
El Búho was 75-years-old.
After the maneuver, “El Búho lay motionless emergency officials tried to resuscitate but he was declared deceased. Law enforcement then began their investigation. El Hijo de Fishman was arrested at the scene..
The promotion putting on the event, Patrón Espectáculos, issued a statement at the time.
“We deeply regret the loss of a life and express our solidarity with his family, friends and colleagues in the lucha libre community,” they stated.
A representative of the law firm Magallán, Reyes y Asociados, explained that the wrestler left the Hidalgo Public Prosecutor’s Office after the settlement was formalized.
