On the latest episode of his podcast, D-Von Dudley has aired more of his frustrations with AEW. He elaborated on wanting to meet with Tony Khan and be a producer, not a wrestler.
“The first time I showed up was in Orlando and I was told by Qt Marshall, who I can’t stand and I don’t care if he knows it, kiss my ass. He can’t do s–t about it, you know. He was like: ‘Oh, Tony wants to say hello to you’. So I said: Okay. I went over there and said hello to him,” D-Von recalled.
When he finally did meet Khan he was busy working the show.
“He said: ‘Let’s talk after. I’m kind of tied up right now.’ Not a problem. It was very respectful, not a problem. Okay, cool, we can talk afterwards,” said D-Von.
D-Von said he ended up waiting in catering until QT Marshall came by again to talk. Although Marshall asked him about doing “a little something with the boys”, D-Von maintained that he wanted to be a producer.
Marshall told D-Von that Tony would be in touch. D-Von received a call and went to see Tony in Montreal.
“You got me sitting there all day. I’m going back and forth from catering to the arena, back and forth, back and forth, saying hello to people that I haven’t seen in a while, that I knew, meeting new people from there and all of that. No meeting, nothing,” said D-Von.
The third attempt at a meeting was back in Orlando.
“I get there at about noon and you know, he’s got me waiting around like some f—–g young boy,” said D-Von claiming he finally left at two or three o’clock in the morning still having not met Khan himself.
D-Von had enough.
“I finally told my lawyer the only I’m doing this for is the kids. I want to see my boys make it. Other than that, he can go to hell with all this disrespect,” said D-Von referring to his sons Terrell Hughes and Terrence Hughes, the tag team TNT.
D-Von was told that Khan had a picture of an old ECW event featuring him and the other Dudleys. D-Von finally did meet with Khan and did chat about the photo.
When they did finally meet D-Von said the same thing to Khan as he had to Marshall. He didn’t want to wrestle. He only wanted a producing gig.
“He just didn’t seem to understand that so not my fault. I could give a damn less about what he thinks or what he thinks of me. I don’t give a goddamn! I don’t work for you nor do you pay me anything. I’m happy with the WWE I’m happy with the legends deal. I’m happy with whatever projects they have me come to do, and that’s it,” said a frustrated D-Von repeating that he doesn’t have a problem with Khan on any kind of personal level but doesn’t appreciate Khan saying he fell asleep before their meeting.
“So what the hell you putting out lies for? If y’all putting that out, why’d you put it out when you know it’s not true? You never once came to me and said earlier: Okay, let’s test you out. Here’s a match. Let me see you produce it.’ Don’t freaking lie and say you did because you didn’t. I don’t give a goddamn how much money a person has. Don’t lie on me, especially when I did nothing to you to make you lie. You can kiss my ass and take that money and shove it up your ass. I don’t care. I do not care. And I’m not trying to be an asshole. I’m not trying to be mean, but don’t go do that,” said an angry D-Von.
